About us

The International High School is a small school in the heart of Gothenburg. Our aim is for each and every one of our students to strive to reach their academic potential in an atmosphere of respect and understanding.

We have a broad mix of nationalities, cultures, and personalities among our students and staff. All education is in English, but in the corridors you hear languages from all over the world: French, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin, Farsi, Russian, and many others.

At The International High School, we are altogether 350 students and 35 staff. We offer the SA Global Studies Programme, the SA Global Studies Programme Enriched (known as Spetsprogrammet), the NA Life Science Programme, and the IB Diploma Programme. Together we represent almost sixty nationalities, ensuring a truly international atmosphere.

We aim to educate young, independent, and knowledgeable world citizens, who strive to continue their academic studies and/or professional careers internationally. Knowledge, honesty, and critical thinking are highly regarded at The International High School. We firmly believe that being present in class is a prerequisite for academic success.

In order to prepare students for university, course plans encourage independent studies as well as project work. Students are encouraged to participate in decision-making regarding their education.

We have a number of exciting international projects, such as our exchange program with Hungary. In the spring of 2024, we started a new project that gives selected students the opportunity to travel to Poland. Througout the school year, our many clubs and associations challenge, develop and entertain our students in areas such as debating, community service, human rights, school newspaper, dancing, and football.

The International High School is also very active in the European Youth Parliament. Over the years, students from our school have won the national session and have had the opportunity to represent Sweden in the international session.
