S&P Global Rating (Standard & Poor's) affirmed the City of Gothenburg rating, AA+ with stable outlook September 8 (2023).

City of Gothenburg has collaborated with CICERO, an independent research institute at the University of Oslo. CICERO has provided a so-called second opinion about the city framework for Green Bonds, verifying that the framework is up to standard.

European Commission announces City of Gothenburg as one of 100 cities participating in EU Mission for climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030. The appointment entails extra resources financially, but also provides access to skills support and a larger network for knowledge exchange.

The City of Gothenburg links financing with sustainability goals when renegotiated loans. The financing is a three-year and five-year loan promise totalling SEK 8 billion. Participating banks are SEB, Swedbank, Handelsbanken, Nordea, Danske Bank and DNB. SEB has acted as sustainability coordinator.
