January 2022

Welcome to a photographic tour in Backa kyrkogata, the first fossil free preschool. Photos: Hannah Björk, stadsfastighetsförvaltningen.

The exterior walls are clad with untreated pinetree which will turn gray during the course of time.

In the yard there are benches and equipment for play. This area is for the smaller children. The stone paving is reused stone.

The broad window sills are made from reused wood, and perfect spots to read a book, cuddle or a lookout post.

The play areas are bright and filled with toys for the children to play with.

Close to the play area, there's a hygiene station with changing table and water taps with water saving nozzles.

We do hope that the children and their teachers will enjoy their playful days in Backa kyrkogatan preschool!

December 2021

The construction project is nearing the end with only finishing touchings left. In the end of December, the staff started furnishing and decorating the rooms and in January the preschool is open to the children.

January  November 2021

The construction is in progress with no delays or worries.

December  January 2020-21

The structure of the building in crosslaminated wood is being installed.

November 2020

The foundation made partly made from recycled glass is laid. Instead of concrete, the choice was made to use Foamglas foundation, which has proven to be a lightweight, rigid, and durable material composed of completely sealed glass cells. It's non-combustible, provides superior compressive strength, moisture resistance, dimensional stability, and offers long lasting thermal performance.

October 2020

We needed to blast away rocks to be able to build a delay reservoir for stormwater.

September 2020

Three preschoolers helped to break ground when the construction project officially started. The children represented the three preschools that will move into the finished building in the beginning of 2022.
