Different ways to study SFI
Full time studies
Studying full-time at study path 1 means that you study 30 hours per week.
Studying full-time at study paths 2 or 3 means that you study 15 hours per week.
Part-time studies
Studying part-time means that you study between 3 and 12 hours per week, namely between one and up to four days a week.
Evening studies
If you work during the day, you can study in the evenings. Evening courses are always offered as part-time studies. Each class is three hours long every evening. Classes begin after working hours, usually around 17.30 (5.30 PM). When you are enrolled in evening studies, you are expected to study a lot at home.
Studying on Saturdays
If you study or work, you can study SFI on Saturdays. SFI on Saturdays is equivalent to seven study hours per week. You have class with a teacher for three hours per week and you study at home using our online platform for the remaining four hours.
To study SFI on Saturdays you need to:
- Have passed secondary level studies in your home country (gymnasium in Swedish).
- Be used to studying and be able to study on your own without a teacher.
- Have good computer skills.

- Access to a computer with internet access, a program for writing text, and an email address

To study Sfi Flexible (Digiflex)
Digiflex is a form of studies where you have the possibility to meet your teacher at your school on different occasions while studying from home on your own using our online platform. Digiflex is suitable for those who have irregular working hours and need a more flexible way to study.

When you study SFI Online, you are expected to study a lot at home. A standardised test is taken at school.
SFI Online is available on study path 3 and it is always part-time studies.

To study on a Folk High School
You can study SFI at a folk high school. You will get the same education and/or SFI courses, but it is not financed by the City of Gothenburg.
You have to choose which folk high school you want to study at.

Sfi and internship combined
SFI and internship combined means that you study Swedish while having an internship.
The school’s SFI coaches help you find an internship. They make use of your skills and future study goals and career goals.
At the internship, you learn Swedish while you get practical vocational training which can shorten your time in SFI and your path to a job.
