Welcome to open preschool in the City of Gothenburg!

This is open preschool

Open preschool is a place for families to meet. Children aged 0–6 are welcome with their guardian or other significant adult. As the adult you are responsible for your child and for your participation in the activities together.
Open preschool is free of charge.

Our various types of activities

The City of Gothenburg’s guideline stipulates that open preschool provide learning activities and social stimulation.

We offer:

• Open activities without prior registration. These drop-in activities are open to all families with children aged 0–6.
• Scheduled open activities. Drop-in activities for specific target groups, without prior registration.
• Group activities. Parenting support courses with prior registration.
• Talks on parenting and other subjects.

We have activities in which you and your child together awaken the child’s curiosity and desire to learn. Visits here serve as a preparation for preschool or pedagogic care.

We can give you advice and support in your parenting role.

You can meet other children and adults here and play, make things or sing with them, or just hang out.

Family-centred support 

Staff in open preschool are qualified teachers. At open preschool we have a family-centred approach. This means that we collaborate e g with the midwifery unit (BMM), child healthcare centre (BVC), preventive social worker and the library. We also offer courses and counselling on parenting and other subjects.

We welcome healthy families 

Children have to be in good health in order to be able to play and participate in activities in open preschool. In order to reduce the risk of transmission of infections, open preschools follow the guidelines issued by the authorities. 

Ban on nuts and peanuts 

You can buy yourself a cup of coffee or tea in open preschool. You are also welcome to bring your own snacks, but you have to make sure they don’t contain nuts, peanuts, almonds or sesame seeds, because of the allergy risk.
