Join the PenPal Network

The PenPal Network is a unique opportunity to connect with a counterpart in another City of Literature.

The Melbourne City of Literature Office is piloting a virtual one-on-one peer exchange model, as inspired by Literature Alliance Scotland’s most excellent Here’s a Haun program

The PenPal Network aims to help literary workers connect, and exchange ideas and knowledge with each other in an informal, relaxed setting. Think about it as catching up for a coffee—but with a peer potentially miles away and over a screen! It is open to any writer, librarian, bookseller, literary programmer or anyone who works in the writing world, who is currently residing in a City of Literature.

Participants will be paired via professional roles, interests (and even reading interest) to connect over email and Zoom. Participants will engage in a digital exchange, both structured and unstructured, over the six-month program.

The PenPal Network will run from June to December 2023. We will host three virtual group meetings across six months.
