The Social Science Programme

The Social Science programme at The International High School is a national programme and it follows the Swedish curriculum. All subjects, except Swedish, are taught in English, but in order to be eligible to study the programme, you need to have a Swedish grade from year 9. Within this programme the focus is on the social sciences.

THE SOCIAL SCIENCE PROGRAMME

International Focus

The Social Science Programme of The International Hiigh School has a truly international focus. We are the only high school in Gothenburg that offers the Swedish curriculum in English. In our subjects we focus on current events with an international focus. The Social Science Programme will provide you with the opportunity to continue your studies abroad or in Sweden. In order for our students to apply what they learn, you will as a student at the Social Science Programme participate in different role plays, such as the UN Role Play and the European Youth Parliament (EYP). This we combine with a variety of field trips, for example to the Swedish Parliament.

Student Involvement

The International High School is a small school with a family feeling. Everyone should have the individual freedom to be who they are and this creates an accepting atmosphere in the school. Going to school is not only about developing academically, but also as a person. The students have the opportunity to influence what we do in class as well as create activities outside of class in the SP Council. We want the students to be part of developing the Social Science Programme and our school. That our former students still keep in touch and visit us we see as the greatest proof of our success in creating a safe, secure and developing atmosphere for our students.

Academic Preparation for University

The Social Science Programme is a preparation for university studies. Our academic standards are high in order for our students to be as well prepared for university as possible. The Social Science students should develop and strive to be: Communicative and open-minded world citizens, who are knowledgeable, analytical and curious critical thinkers.
